Introduction
During the reign of the Tongzhi Emperor, local villagers constructed the Houlong Canal. In 1908, it was rebuilt as the first reinforced concrete canal managed by our office. In 1956, to implement a rotational irrigation system in the area, the entire main canal was lined with concrete, making it the first fully lined canal in the region. In 1978, due to frequent water shortages, the original intake was moved to the confluence of Laotianliao River and Houlong River to increase the irrigation water supply.
